Revised! Leveling the Learning Field

  • Leveling the Learning Field

The School of Global Access has recently revised the Leveling the Learning Field course aimed at supporting learners with developing strategies to better navigate a Canadian academic environment and to develop a global perspective.   Although originally marketed to international students, this course has now been made available to student ambassadors and anyone who would like to develop their intercultural competence.  The format has been updated to a blended, flipped style delivery. Content is presented first in an online format through slide casts, reflections and readings (a total of 4 hours) and followed by classroom learning, to further understanding of the concepts through activities and discussions (a total of 10 hours).  This course is divided into four modules:

  • Impact of culture
  • Navigating differences in the academic culture
  • Clarifying information and making requests
  • Developing intercultural awareness

Leveling the Learning Field is offered during Reading Week, February 19, 20, 21 and March 1, 2019, 11:00 am- 1:30 pm, with the course opening online on February 11, 2019.   It is free for all BVC students and course hours are recorded in the student co-curricular record.  For further information or to register contact
