Project Description

This project will develop a blended online, boot camp, and mentoring learning model to support 20 newcomer women (at CLB levels 6 and 7) as emerging entrepreneurs. Working with the Chui School of Business, and external partners Calgary Economic Development, and Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association the project will research, design, create, and pilot a robust set of resources with an aim to increase access labour market integration services.

Newcomer women, English language learning faculty, and partner subject matter experts will be engaged through interviews, focus groups and course participation throughout the projects four phases of development which will culminate in a five-module course.

SEED for Newcomer Women will support women interested in entrepreneurship as a career opportunity by identifying language skills and intercultural competencies to help the course participants to access startup services and supports. It will also pilot an experiential learning model to bridge newcomer women to becoming successful entrepreneurs.
