Program Overview

The Immigration Practitioner Certificate is a 500 hour program offered through seven continuing education courses. The certificate is a blend of in-classroom and online instruction. Upon successful completion of the certificate program, learners will be prepared to write the ICCRC Full Skills exam which enables them to work as accredited practitioners.

All instructors are either Registered Immigration Consultants (with the ICCRC) or immigration lawyers and professionals.

Courses

The Immigration Practitioner Certificate program includes the following seven courses:

  • Course 1: Introduction to Canadian Immigration Law and Policy (70 hours)
  • Course 2: Inadmissibility, Enforcement, and Removals (78 hours)
  • Course 3: Temporary Residence (74 hours)
  • Course 4: Permanent Residence - Economic Class (77 hours)
  • Course 5: Permanent Residence - Family Class, Humanitarian, and Compassionate Applications (75 hours)
  • Course 6: Refugees and Protected Persons (74 hours)
  • Course 7: Professional Immigration Practice and Ethics (70 hours)

All students are required to complete Courses 1 and 2 in succession before attending the remaining courses.

Requirements

Participants of the Immigration Practitioner Certificate program must meet the following requirements:

  • be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • have passed an ICCRC-approved English or French language proficiency test
  • have successfully completed at least two years of post-secondary education or equivalent OR
  • have a minimum of two years of related work experience or equivalent
  • have access to a computer
