DiverseCity onBoard
The go-to-program that connects qualified candidates to volunteer board positions.
Bow Valley College, through the Centre for Excellence in Immigrant and Intercultural Advancement, is pleased to be a partner with the National DiverseCity on Board initiative and to bring this unique program to Calgary.
DiverseCity onBoard is a unique board matching service that connects qualified, pre-screened candidates from visible minorities and underrepresented communities to volunteer board positions. The connections are made through a searchable database that matches qualified diverse individuals with board opportunities.
All prospective board members will be trained in board governance through a series of self-paced online courses, offered through Ryerson University. The DiverseCity onBoard online self-paced training is unique because it is embedded in principles of diversity and inclusion and provides effective board governance fundamentals.
The DiverseCity onBoard Training is a series of seven courses (approximately 20 hours) at a cost of $250. The board governance training includes seven modules:
- Board Essentials
- Legal Roles and Responsibilities
- Finance Fundamentals
- Commitment to Diversity
- Risk Management
- Strategic Planning
- Resource Development
