This applied research project initiated the formation of a professional reading circle for ESL literacy instructors at Bow Valley College. The project examined whether participating in a professional reading circle would benefit instructors, reduce feelings of isolation, and lead to a more reflective practice. Ten practitioners formed a reading circle and met five times over a period of five months. All participants stated that the reading circle was beneficial to their daily teaching, motivated them to read relevant literature, reduced professional isolation and built a more reflective practice.
