The primary objective of the Language for Work course is to help internationally educated learners develop Intercultural Communicative Competence.

This regular project is a funded pathway program for newcomers to Alberta who are interested in having a career as a licensed Health Care Aides. This program is specifically designed for learners who do not yet meet the English language proficiency requirements for direct entry into the Health Care Aide Certificate program. With this course, learners take part in a full-time language program for an additional semester to improve their language skills for health care environments and prepare to enter the Health Care Aide Certificate program.

The purpose of this project was to build capacity and expertise in the emerging field of ESL literacy in Alberta.
This pilot program provided opportunities for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) to re-enter into meaningful employment in their field.
This initiative supported the transition and orientation of English language learners and staff to Bow Valley College's downtown campus.
This applied research project initiated the formation of a professional reading circle for ESL literacy instructors at Bow Valley College.
